14 Integrating Machines

Welcome to Lesson 14 on the topic of Integrating Machines into your Mixed Model Line Design. In this lesson we will discuss the conditions  required to balance machine resources. Machines should be integrated directly into your line design as much as possible, but there are some challenges that you might need to overcome when dealing with machine resources.

Here’s what we’ll be covering in this lesson on Integrating Machines:

1. The different types of machines, and how each type impacts flow. Machines are not all the same, of course, so you need to know how to deal with different common types.
2. Integrating IPKs with machine processes. IPKs are especially important when dealing with machines.
3. Choosing balancing tools based on machine capabilities. We’ll go back to the balancing tools discussed in the previous lesson, and apply them to machine-intensive environments.
