12 In-Process Kanbans

Welcome to Lesson 12 on the topic of In-Process Kanbans. The In-Process Kanban is one of the key balancing tools. It is so important that it gets its own lesson. We will study the rest of the balancing tools in an upcoming lesson.

Here’s what we will discuss in this lesson on In Process Kanbans:

1. Introduction to In-Process Kanbans or IPKs. We’ll start this lesson by defining what IPKs are.
2. Types of IPKs. There are several different “flavors” of IPK, which we’ll review in this lesson.
3. Deciding how many IPKs to place between workstations. You’ll need to understand how many IPKs might be needed in difference circumstances.
